The Miami Dolphins ' hopes of starting fast in 2025 were dashed Sunday in Indianapolis, where they dropped their season opener to the Colts 33-8.

Miami entered the year looking to end a run of missing the playoffs in six of the last eight seasons but came up short in its first test.

Injuries and inconsistency have often defined the Dolphins' recent seasons, with last year's playoff hopes fading after quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was sidelined early. This time, they had All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill back from an oblique injury, but the offense couldn't generate enough against a revamped Colts defense.
