RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is set to undergo a significant upgrade.
Preparations are in motion for a major renovation and expansion, which will lead to the temporary closure of specific exhibits and gallery spaces.
Beginning on September 16, 2025, both the Paul and Rachel Mellon Collections of European Art and Sporting Art will be taken off view, and their respective galleries will close for the duration of the museum’s expansion and renovation project. Marble Hall, an event space within the museum that houses Sol LeWitt’s Wall Drawing #541 (1987), will also be closed during this period.
