OHIO COUNTY, Ky. (WEVV) — A large fire on the Western Kentucky Parkway has led to the closure of both westbound lanes at the 86-mile marker.

Emergency crews are currently on the scene, working to manage the situation.

Sheriff Adam Wright told 44News that the fire was believed to have been sparked by a chain on the road sparking and that spark igniting a hay bale.

The lanes were closed as of 4:15 p.m. and are expected to remain closed for another hour and a half.

The call was received by dispatch at noon.

Crews are actively working to remove the hay bales from the truck, extinguish the fire, and clear the roadway to reopen the lanes.

We're going to stay checking in on this story, and will bring you updates as we learn them.
