Dan Leach, a Greenville native and professor at Charleston Southern University, will stop at Hub City Bookshop in Spartanburg to promote his debut novel, “Junah at the End of the World.”

Leach wrote the book during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Set in Greenville in the months leading up Y2K, the story follows Junah, an outsider at school who has a speech impediment. His teacher tasks each of her students to make a time capsule in a shoe box to document their experiences in South Carolina at the end of the world.

Through the time-capsule project, Junah sifts through the tough stuff in his life, including his parents’ divorce; school bully Rusty; Sadie, his punk crush who doesn’t know he exists; his mother’s pressure on him to turn to Jesus; and his worry and loneliness.
