JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - A man is dead after an early morning shooting in Jones County on Monday.

According to the Jones County Sheriff’s Department, deputies and medics responded to a reported shooting at a home on Graves Road in Jones County.

When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot. EMServ transported him to South Central Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies detained an adult female for questioning in the incident, which is under active investigation.

JCSD says that the shooting is an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The identity of the victim and the detainee is being withheld as family members are notified and investigators continue their work.
