LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A teen boy on a moped is dead after he was struck by a car that turned in front of him on Sunday night.

The crash was reported around 8:13 p.m. on Gowan Road near Pecos Road. According to North Las Vegas police, the driver of a Toyota Scion was traveling westbound on Gowan and made a left turn in front of the oncoming moped, causing the crash.

The teen was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead later in the evening.

Police said that, although the driver of the car failed to yield to the moped, surveillance video showed the teen was speeding, which could be a contributing factor to the crash.

The identification of the teen will be released by the Clark County Coroner's office. The crash remains under investigation.
