STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A massive branch split off a tree and landed on several vehicles in Port Richmond on Monday morning.
The incident was reported around 9:20 a.m. in the vicinity of Heberton Avenue and Ann Street, according to emergency radio transmissions.
The branch was so large that it stretched across the street onto other vehicles, with its heaviest portion landing on an unoccupied Chevy Suburban parked at the curb next to the tree.
The Suburban appeared to be damaged where it was hit by the tree.
The falling branch ripped down wires as it fell.
Emergency officials roped off the area with yellow caution tape.
The FDNY and Con Edison did not immediately respond to a request for further details about the response.
