Six members of the Lansdowne Association for Revitalization (LAFR) were honoured by the Province of Ontario for their volunteerism at the Ontario Volunteer Service Award ceremony held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 96 in Brockville on July 15.

LAFR members Wilhelmina Lacelle, Donna Dempsey, Freda White, Peter Christie, Liane Salmon, and Donnie Dorey nominated by Beth MacLean of the organization. Between them they were recognized for more than 60 years of service to the Township of Leeds & the Thousand Islands.

During the ceremony, they were presented with lapel pins, certificates honouring their commitment and dedication as volunteers in their community, and a scroll from MPP Steve Clark, Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes.
