Strathcona County RCMP were on the scene of an accident involving a semi-truck carrying an excavator.
The vehicle was travelling northbound on the Anthony Henday Drive before the excavator collided with the underside of the Whitemud bridge.
At this time, the extent of the damage is unknown, although no injuries have occurred as a result.
This crash is similar to a collision that took place in June of 2023, where an excavator hit the same bridge. That collision involved the excavator going onto the highway from the off-ramp, before slamming into the bridge, with the damage being so severe that rebar could be seen.
The 2023 crash ended with a male receiving five traffic safety charges. Repairing the damage of that crash took 2.3 million dollars and wasn’t finished until earlier this year
