The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) have released their shooting report for August, and the results aren’t what the police were aiming for.
Shooting numbers have gone up slightly from July, which had nine shooting incidents. August had a total of 10. This number is also higher than last year’s August number, where there were just six shootings throughout the month.
So far in 2025, there have been 91 shootings; a 7% increase from the 85 shooting incidents during the same period in 2024.
Of the 10 reported shootings in August, six were believed to be targeted attacks and four resulted in reported injuries. There were two deaths as a result of shootings last month.
Firearm seizures are down, with the EPS collecting 65 firearms throughout August, bringing the total of the year so far to 495.
