PHOENIX – A man who stabbed his girlfriend to death in Phoenix last year and fled to Mexico was sentenced to nearly 20 years in prison, authorities announced Monday.
Eduardo Galindo-Ramirez, 32, received an 18.5-year sentence on Friday after previously pleading guilty to second-degree murder for the death of 24-year-old Andrea Casarubias Romero, according to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
Casarubias Romero was found dead inside Galindo-Ramirez’s residence near Indian School Road and 27th Avenue on May 5, 2024.
Officers responding to a welfare check followed a blood trail to find the victim’s body.
Prosecutors said Galindo-Ramirez stabbed his girlfriend more than 30 times during a fight before showering, treating a hand wound and fleeing to Mexico.
