MIDDLE TOWNSHIP — Multiple units at a storage facility on Shunpike Road were damaged Monday following a fire, police said.
Officers responded to Burleigh Storage in the Cape May Court House section of the township at 10:08 a.m. and saw heavy smoke coming from several units in the facility's F building, police said in a news release. Firefighters arrived shortly thereafter.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
This is the second time in seven months a fire broke out at the facility.
Salvatore Gellura, of the Green Creek section of the township, allegedly lit a box on fire inside his storage unit to keep warm Feb. 19, leading to a fire that damaged approximately 50 units. Gellura was charged with arson and false reports to law enforcement.
