HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle welcomed the commander of U.S. Space Command to the city Monday.
The City of Huntsville announced Monday that Battle welcomed Space Command Commander Gen. Stephen Whiting, which the city said was an important step as the city and Redstone Arsenal begin the formal transition to hosting Space Command's permanent headquarters.
“We are honored to welcome Gen. Whiting to Huntsville,” Battle said. “This is an exciting moment for our city, but more importantly, it’s about ensuring the security of our nation. We look forward to working closely with Gen. Whiting and the entire Space Command team as they relocate to Redstone Arsenal.”
The city said Whiting also expressed enthusiasm to become a part of the Huntsville community.
