What police thought was a carjacking last week turned out to be a misunderstanding.
At about 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 4, Victoria Police responded to a report of a possible carjacking near the intersection of Quadra and Johnson streets.
Multiple police units, including the Integrated Canine Service and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, were also dispatched to the scene.
Officers there soon located the vehicle and initiated a high-risk traffic stop, but further investigation revealed a "misunderstanding regarding the vehicle's loan agreement," according to Victoria Police spokesperson Gemma Stroobant.
Victoria Police is not considering charges at this time.
