CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Schools across Iowa have established their own policies for cell phone use in the classroom this year.

This follows a new state law that went into effect that restricts public school students from using their cell phones during instructional time.

Principal Qynn Kelly and teachers at Hoover High School in Des Moines are in their second year of a classroom cellphone ban.

It requires students to keep their phones in their backpacks for the entire school day.

She says three other school districts in the state have already asked for help.

“We’ve been getting out there and trying to, promote this and share the work. Because, if it’s good here, it’s going to be good for all kids” she said.
