The Yukon government is refusing to release a draft framework for new minerals legislation while the final deal is being finalized, citing Yukon First Nation government engagement as the reason for withholding the document.

Diana Dryburgh, a spokesperson for the Executive Council Office, told the News by email on Sept. 8 that the draft framework was released in error following a request for information submitted under access-to-information law.

“The Government of Yukon is working with Yukon First Nations to finalize a confidential framework agreement for new minerals legislation,” Dryburgh said.

“We apologize for this error.”
