SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Robertson County clock tower has long been the symbol of Springfield.

The tower has stood in the center of town for nearly a century, serving as the community’s main landmark.

“The clock tower can be seen from all over Springfield. And as people approach Springfield from the East, from the North, from the South, from the West, the first thing that they see is this clock tower,” Springfield native and president of Robertson County's Historical Society Danny Atchley said. “And it’s such an icon, it’s almost like a beacon, drawing people into downtown Springfield.”

After years of asking and being denied access by the Robertson County Sheriff's Office, which operate the clock tower, Atchley joined News 2 atop the structure — 105 feet above Main Street.
