A man has been sentenced for arson more than a year on from rioting in Harehills, with another man now charged.

Bailey Hudson, 20 and of Harley Gardens, Pudsey , was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday, September 4. This came after he admitted to violent disorder and arson in Harehills on July 18, 2024.

This makes 27 people now convicted and sentenced following the rioting in Harehills last year. In addition, 83 people have been arrested in connection.

Another man, Gherorghita Panainte, 33 and of Strathmore Street, will appear before Leeds Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, September 9, charged with arson. A total of 41 people have so far been charged following the riots in Harehills.
