Kalaweloilehua Chock says when she goes to the beach, sometimes there is “tanning” involved. Sometimes, she walks the shoreline, eyes wide open.

“I am passionate about shelling,” Chock said on Sunday afternoon, shortly after spending her day at the beach.

Her collection isn’t about selling or trading. Her time away from academics and athletics is, perhaps, equally valuable. Physical therapy, maybe, but more so, recharging the soul. It involves focus, but the rest is pure bliss.
