The provincial government is building a new long-term care facility in Stephenville Crossing.
The province has expropriated six hectares of former Reid Newfoundland Company lands from the town for the project, which is located on Seal Cove Road.
The 150-bed building will replace the current 114-bed facility, which was constructed in 1976.
$1-million has been set aside for preliminaries as the eventual cost will be in the tens of millions.
An RFP will be issued in the coming weeks for a technical advisor for the project.
