Is a casino a gamble for Midtown? That was the question at a public hearing Monday at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, where Silverstein Properties pitched its plan for a gaming and entertainment complex on 41st Street and 11th Avenue.
Dino Fusco, the COO of Silverstein Properties, said the development would be more than just a casino.
“We believe, having spoken to most of our residents and a lot of other residents in the neighborhood, that that site and that neighborhood need something more. Currently, it's really more of an industrial site,” he said.
He added the plan, known as The Avenir, will include restaurants, a food hall, a community center and housing.
