(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota taxpayers are getting their first look at the site plan for a proposed new men’s prison in northeast Sioux Falls. The 650-million-dollar project would hold about 15-hundred inmates and is designed to last a century. Lawmakers will vote September 23rd on whether to buy the land and move forward, a decision that will require two-thirds approval in both chambers. Governor Larry Rhoden says while some lawmakers are adamant on remaining opposed, he’s confident the plan will pass and calls the project too important to fail.
