COLUMBIA, S.C. — A strong area of high pressure, anchored from New England through the Carolinas will control the weather across our region throughout the week, ushering in sustained dry conditions and a gradual warming trend.
High pressure continues its reign today and tonight, steering cool, northeasterly low-level winds that keep temperatures 5 to 10 degrees below seasonal norms. It will still be breezy at times with winds out of the northeast at 10-15 mph.
Though we may see periods of high clouds from an upper-level disturbance shifting moisture from the south, rain is not expected. The dry air near the surface will make it difficult for any rain to develop, particularly farther inland.
