EAST LANSING — Michigan State started the season rotating seven offensive linemen. Now it’s rolling eight.
The position battles in the trenches are showing no signs of resolution after the Spartans’ 42-40 double overtime win against Boston College. After that game exposed some of the best of that position group as a unit and as individuals, coach Jonathan Smith is still looking for separation from his players.

“We’ll see if that plays out. If it doesn’t, we’re going to continue to push it,” Smith said. “I think there’s healthy competition. They know Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday continue to really matter. The more they want to play, they gotta show up during the week.”
