The fire engulfed the building and spread to the grounds along Mohawk Bay before Deseronto Fire Department called in Mohawk Fire Department for assistance to knock down the blaze.

Plumes of heavy black smoke could be seen billowing out of the structure throughout the area.

The building was a popular destination for flea-market enthusiasts for decades but was used as a storage building recently.

During its time as a flea market, the building was filled with vendors, hobbyists, crafters and artisans.
