EUSTIS, Maine (WMTW) - The pontoon boat involved in a fatal crash over Labor Day Weekend that killed three women is under recall.

In a recall notice sent back in February , Bombardier Recreational Products says poor weight distribution on the MY22 to MY25 Sea-Doo Switches could lead to instability, nose-diving and capsizing.

“The condition worsens if water evacuation from the hull is not optimal. This could cause serious injuries or even death,” the recall statement said.

Investigators say seven people were on a 2024 18-foot Sea-Doo Switch pontoon boat when the front of the boat started to go under, then flipped.

“I was shocked and saddened to hear about this tragedy, and then we learned that it was preventable,” said Mike Bigos, a Berman & Simmons attorney.
