Sudbury's author love of reading developed over his many surgeries

Beset by health problems in his youth, Michael Richardson discovered a welcome diversion between the pages of books.

As he recovered, he continued to read and also began to write. Soon, he found not only a pastime, but even inspiration in his own characters’ determination to struggle on despite hard times.

Drawn to the dark fantasy genre, the Greater Sudburian worked here and there over the years on what eventually became the Tickers series, but it wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic that he found the time to return to writing in earnest. He published the first book, The Fall From Grace, in 2024.

His followup, entitled Rain, Rain, Go Away, was released over the summer. Set nearly 1,000 years after The Fall From Grace , Richardson’s newest offering finds humanity divided into two factio
