ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Orangeburg County coroner has released the name of the Columbia man whose remains were found last month in the Branchville area.

The remains are those of 29-year-old Maurice C. Green, Coroner Sean Fogle said. The cause and manner of death are still under investigation, he said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Orangeburg County deputies asked for the public’s help in the investigation. Deputies responded to the area of Greywood Drive near Highway 21 on Aug. 19, where the remains were reported.

“We are actively working this case and are committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding this discovery,” Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said.
