SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — Another step toward revitalizing O.C. Fisher Reservoir following years of drought was taken on Sept. 8 after hundreds of catfish were stocked into its waters.

The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department's San Angelo district of Inland Fisheries reported during the afternoon of Monday, Aug. 8, that 1,500 channel catfish were stocked into the reservoir that day. The fish averaged 10-12 inches in length.

The district stated that the stocking came after O.C. Fisher Reservoir "was in severe drought from 2022-2024." The body of water would eventually reach a critical low, with the San Angelo State Park announcing in July 2024 that it was 98.8% empty.
