KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency Inc. (UETHDA) announced Tuesday its Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) will start Nov. 1.

According to a news release from UETHDA, the start date is later than usual due to changes to the Tennessee Housing Development Agency.

Applications for the 2025-2026 program will not be distributed or accepted before Nov. 1.

"UETHDA recognizes that this delay may cause inconvenience and appreciates the community’s patience as these program adjustments are implemented statewide," the agency said in the release.
