I’ve been with my partner for nearly seven years, and I know that I’m getting engaged next year. My partner wants to propose to me in Hawai’i, but I feel super stressed about the prospect. I’ve always wanted to go to Hawai’i, but getting engaged there doesn’t feel like me.

On another note, I have multiple other trips planned for family, my own graduation, and not enough PTO to do everything. I’ve hinted that I don’t need a fancy proposal but now my partner feels I am putting others above us. I just don’t feel as excited about an engagement trip to Hawai’i than going abroad with my parents. How do I approach this?
