TONTITOWN, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A state-funded study from the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment says the Eco-Vista Landfill is not likely to be the source of high levels of dangerous chemicals or foul odors.
CTEH conducted the study on behalf of the ADEE from May 2-12, which was related to multiple previous tests made at the landfill.
Previous studies found potentially toxic chemicals in the air, like acrolein, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, and naphthalene, above health-based screening levels near the landfill.
The study says the emission sources of the potentially harmful chemicals could not be conclusively determined, so the ADEE conducted a new study in which CTEH was selected to conduct the work.
Study findings
The new study found 36 compounds out of 50 test
