Mike Gundy tried to warn us. His preemptive strike last week, pointing out the football spending gap between Oklahoma State and Oregon, was prophetic.

The Cowboys went to Eugene, Oregon, and looked like a team made up of amateurs playing a team made up of pros. A team incapable of playing competitive football, at least on the level that matters in Stillwater these last two decades.

The Ducks won 69-3, which was the score through three quarters. That’s right. Oregon at that point was on pace to win 92-4.

Aggrieved Oregon coach Dan Lanning, who apparently is not wired to let nonsense run its course, popped Gundy during the week, then after the game said Gundy was “probably thinking, ‘See, I told you so.’”
