Vuntut Gwitchin MLA Annie Blake has announced she is looking to return to the Yukon legislature to represent the northern Yukon riding for a second term as member of the legislative assembly with the Yukon NDP.

With the clay cliffs along Robert Service Way and the mighty Yukon River as her backdrop, Blake made the announcement alongside Yukon NDP Leader Kate White at a press conference on Sept. 9.

First elected in 2021, Blake told reporters she has been visiting with households in Old Crow since February and asking constituents if they think she should run again. The encouragement she received drove her to seek re-election.

Blake described herself as a descendent of the Dagoo people and a Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation citizen.
