ROSEBURG, Ore. - Firefighters are responding to several lightning-induced fires across the Douglas Forest Protective Association district following a storm on Monday, DFPA officials said.
DFPA authorities said that 280 lightning strikes on Sept. 8 resulted in nine fires, with crews actively working on four. The Boswell Fire in Yoncalla and the Little Camp Fire near Elkton are contained and under patrol. Fires near Days Creek and Canyonville are similarly controlled. Crews are mopping up the Rainy Peak Fire, East Fork Fire, and Green Mountain Fire.
The Homestead Fire in Milo remains active but poses no threat to structures. Fire danger has decreased to moderate due to recent rain, but restrictions on open fires remain.
