OAKRIDGE, Ore. - Firefighters are battling the Emigrant Fire under challenging weather conditions, according to fire management officials.

According to the California Complex Incident Management Team 3, heavy rain, hail, and lightning have reduced fire behavior but introduced new hazards, including potential new fires from lightning strikes and slippery terrain. Crews are working to strengthen containment lines and conduct mop-up operations to prevent re-ignition. Efforts include extinguishing hot spots, removing hazard trees, and building contingency lines to slow potential fire spread.

The fire is expected to receive over an inch of rain, aiding suppression efforts. However, wet conditions and reduced visibility pose additional risks for both fire response teams and drivers.
