The Greater Victoria Placemaking Network (GVPN) invites people from across the region to celebrate the charm of little free libraries (LFL) by sharing their favourite real-life stories about them.

The call for stories is part of the lead-up to the network’s 1,000 Little Free Library Festival, a free community event happening Saturday, Sept. 20, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Oaklands Community Centre (2827 Belmont Ave.).

Little free libraries are little book boxes that operate on the principle of “leave a book, take a book.” LFLs come in all shapes and sizes and can be found throughout the region. While most share books, there is a growing number of LFLs that share plants, seeds, toys, yarn, household items, board games, puzzles, art supplies, art, food and more.
