OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WLOX) - The months-long headaches, detours and loud machinery are coming to an end on Government Street.

Crews have been striping the road since early Monday morning. As of Tuesday afternoon, a majority of the road is now complete.

According to the city, they will now proceed to a monitoring and evaluation phase. That means that between Russell and Washington Avenues, crews will keep an eye on how that section of the road is going.

“We have to determine that if this new layout works as far as dimensions and if it doesn’t, we have to back up and figure out what to do in those pinchpoints to mitigate the one-by-one traffic,” Project Manager Sarah Harris said.
