SHREVEPORT, La. — SPD says it plans to rely more on drones to help defuse dangerous situations — like the 2023 domestic violence standoff that turned violent and left two people shot.

Body camera video provided to KTBS shows the tense situation in July 2023 on Crooked Creek Drive in the Southern Hills neighborhood. A domestic dispute between a husband and wife escalated when a neighbor came to check on them and then the husband shot him in the leg.

“And also shot a relative that was inside of the residence, relative being a young teenage girl. And she was injured inside of the residence. She was able to get to a phone and was calling for help,” said Cpl. Chris Bordelon, SPD PIO.
