AUSTIN, Texas — Gov. Greg Abbott is preparing to issue an executive order setting new regulations for THC products in Texas after lawmakers ended their second special session without reaching a deal.

The Texas Tribune reports that the order would set a minimum purchase age of 21 and direct the Texas Department of State Health Services to craft additional rules. Those could include ID checks, product testing, labeling requirements, and distance restrictions from schools. Businesses could also face higher fees, and some stores that currently sell both alcohol and THC products may be banned from doing so in the future.
