LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

JCPS is celebrating the start of construction on a state-of-the-art school in PRP.

The new Kerrick Elementary will replace the current school, which is nearly 70 years old.

It's being built on the same property.

It will feature a sustainable and energy-efficient design, flexible learning environments, family-focused spaces, and nature integration.

"This is not just a building," said JCPS superintendent Brian Yearwood. "It's actually a promise to our students, a promise to our families, a promise to our community that we are investing in their success."

This school is a part of a bigger plan by JCPS to modernize facilities.

JCPS has a 10-year plan to rebuild more than 20 schools.
