One of the candidates in the race to become leader of the BC Greens says the party needs to make changes to a verification process that could leave hundreds, if not thousands, of new members unable to vote in just a few days.
Emily Lowan said the current system of online verification tools and video conferencing is too cumbersome to accommodate almost 4,000 new Green members.
She called on party officials to automatically authenticate those who paid $10 for a BC Green membership using a credit card, and redirect efforts towards processing the almost 1,400 unverified free party memberships issued for youth aged 14-29.
