FARGO — For an American Association playoff baseball game in almost mid-September, the weather was ideal at Newman Outdoor Field. The performance by the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks was not.

Sioux Falls jumped on the home team early and often on its way to a 9-2 victory in Game 2 of the West Division Championship Series before 1,623 fans. Game 3 is Thursday in Sioux Falls in the best-of-five format with the series tied at 1-1.

If the RedHawks are going to move on, they’ll have to win twice at The Birdcage. They’ll also have to find a way to gain some offensive momentum. F-M hasn’t picked a great time for a lack of run production; the RedHawks scored more than four runs just once in the last 10 games. And that was five back on Aug. 25.
