ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The veteran firefighter who died battling a fire at a Lithonia warehouse has been identified.
DeKalb County fire officials said 53-year-old Master Firefighter Preston Fant, who was with DeKalb County Fire Rescue for 21 years, died on Monday from injuries sustained in a commercial structure fire.
Fant was among the 32 firefighters who responded to the 2500 block of South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road around 1:30 p.m. Monday. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he passed away, officials said.
