WHEELING – The scores may tell you that John Marshall swept Wheeling Park in high school volleyball action Tuesday night, but the Monarchs’ victory didn’t come easy.

John Marshall prevailed by scores of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-23 inside the ‘Palace on the Hill’ at Wheeling Park High School.

The win moves the Monarchs to 8-2 and keeps them close to No. 1 Morgantown (12-2) in the OVAC Class 5A standings. Wheeling Park, meanwhile, fell to 3-7-1 and is battling Parkersburg South (2-4) for the fifth spot.

“I think sometimes we get in our (own) heads and get a little comfortable,” John Marshall head coach Chelsea Eikleberry said. “But when we stay loose and have fun, that’s when we play our best. It comes in waves.”
