SEATTLE — A longtime south Seattle gang member was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court to four years in prison and three years of supervised release, after a firearm in his possession was linked to multiple shootings, including a 2023 homicide.

Samuel N. Rezene, 38, has a lengthy criminal history involving drug trafficking, firearms, promoting prostitution, and gang violence, according to prosecutors.

At the sentencing, U.S. District Judge James L. Robart said Rezene had shown little interest in reform.

“As far as I can tell, this defendant wants to be taken out of society,” Robart said. “You don’t get a Glock 9 to protect yourself, you get that to be back in the trade.”
