An employee was assaulted after trying to intervene with someone who was believed to be taking off with stolen merchandise from a Mount Pearl grocery store.
RNC were called around 4:00 yesterday afternoon after the store’s loss prevention officer reported being assaulted by a man trying to leave with unpaid items.
The man, who fled the scene before police arrived, was located by officers shortly after. He tried to take off on foot again, but was unsuccessful.
The 43-year-old has been charged with robbery, resisting arrest and breaches of court orders.
