HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Health officials have released new interim COVID-19 vaccination guidelines that contradict recent recommendations from the CDC, creating a divide between state and federal guidance.

On Tuesday, the CDC updated its guidance, removing children under age 2 and pregnant women from the list of groups for whom COVID-19 vaccination is recommended.

However, Connecticut officials are advising the opposite, as children under 2 should receive one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and that pregnant women should also receive one dose.

State leaders say their recommendations are based on advice from national medical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, and not political motivations.
