Firefighters rushed to the scene of a fire at a derelict building on Saxon Way, Bar Hill, on Wednesday morning (September 10). Bar Hill residents reported seeing smoke billowing into the sky.
Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue spent about an hour putting out the flames and making the area safe. A spokesperson for the service commented: "At 8.10am on Wednesday (10), a crew from Cambridge and the south roaming fire engine were called to a fire on Saxon Way in Bar Hill.
"Firefighters arrived to find a well-developed fire involving a derelict building. Wearing breathing apparatus, they extinguished the fire using a hose reel and returned to their stations by 9.15am.
"The cause of the was accidental."
