Drivers have been warned to look for one thing that may signal they have filled their tank with contaminated fuel. The advice comes after Scots motorists claimed they were left with huge repair bills of up to £7,000 for engine damage after filling up at a pump in Kirkcaldy, Fife. ‌

Affected drivers have since united to challenge the supplier, Motor Fuel Group (MFG), after several cars and vans have broken down following filling up with premium diesel at Morrisons in the town. The pump at the affected supermarket has since been taken out of service. ‌

The fuel ,which was drained from the tanks was described by roadside recovery teams as 'milky white' with mechanics confirming it had seriously damaged some engines. ‌
